Pergola Plans and Design Ideas
When you are sitting in your back yard and you think it is looking a little dull and could use a some flare, one of the best ways to get a great bang for your buck is to build a pergola - and to top it all off, they aren't that difficult to build yourself!. The nice thing about these structures is that you can go so many ways with them in terms of design and finish. You can see the image above, where the family poured a concrete slab, and chose to get some custom curved wood for the top section of their pergola.
Another popular, but not instantaneous pergola design finish, is to start some climbing foliage such as clematis or morning glory. I always think that pergolas that are finished with vines look absolutely amazing, and when you have the vegetation as the "highlight" of the pergola, you can actually make a pretty basic one since a lot of the wood will be covered (ends up costing a little less too!) But lets get down to why you are really here - you are looking for pergola plans and you have landed on this site. I wanted to make this site after building my own pergola and finding out how easy it is to do - however, when I was in the planning stages, I had to look all over for some decent plans and I couldn't find any until I started to just do some searches for things like "woodworking ideas" and then I came across a book that has thousands and thousands of plans/ideas and actually had a whole section on pergolas. I figured I'd take the plunge (I think it was only like $37 or something like that) and it actually ended up being an amazing little guide. So that is why I made this site - as a "navigation" to great pergola designs and the plan that goes with them - so without any more fluff - if you want some great plans, you can click THIS LINK. Now just a heads up if you are still on this page - that book that I just sent you to, when you buy it - there are a couple other offers that will pop up - I will say that you don't have to get them to still get the plans, but I did and it actually made the process a lot easier - it's up to you, either way the plans are awesome and easy to follow. |
